About Me

I'm Paul,

Starting at an early age I began fishing and exploring the shores and backwaters of this historic and mystical place called Caddo Lake. I learned to love and respect these breathing waters all while understanding her dangers and enjoying the beauty that is in every direction. Every turn of this shallow cypress filled lake tells a different story and new adventures begin. On a daily basis I am truly blessed to take in everything this place offers and watch her seasonal changes. I never tire of floating above these waters that have a history all of its own. Capturing small moments in time with a camera only shows a glimpse of what our Creator has given us. I served as a professional fireman for 30 years in Shreveport, LA. I retired as a fire captain in 2016. This afforded me the time off and a place of retreat from the rigors and harshness of being a fireman/emt. 30 years ago I began guiding for bass on Caddo Lake. This is how my photography journey began over 20 years ago when I picked up a camera and ventured into the world of photographing the place I grew up on and still spend a couple hundred days a year on. Currently my wife Darlene and I reside in Jefferson, Texas. We have my photo gallery in historic downtown Jefferson. This is just a short drive down the road from Caddo Lake that I use as the backdrop and subject of my photography. I also offer photo tours on the lake.

Inspiration

My inspiration comes from the beauty and mystery that is provided by natures canvas right here where I work and live near on Caddo Lake. Seeing this lake and it's surrounding wetlands on a daily basis inspires me to photograph small glimpses of its beauty that is ever changing with the seasons.

Happy Place

Being on the water on a daily basis since childhood is what makes me happy. This is where photography and the magic of capturing the beauty and mystique of this special place happens. Whether it's from a boat or wading in the swamps it's being one with nature. It's my office and it's my Happy Place.

Touring

I enjoy taking my lake tour customers out on the water to photograph and learn of this mystical place. I love watching the expressions on customers faces that have seen this for their first time. Every turn into a different area brings out the excitement in the eyes and verbal gestures.
